Living your Ikigai
Ikigai is a concept that combines the Japanese terms iki, meaning “life,” and gai, meaning “worth”, so when combined, these terms mean your life’s worth or purpose. Ikigai refers to doing; what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for. You’ve discovered Ikigai Digital
This might be via a job posting, through LinkedIn, a referral or perhaps through a recruiter but whatever the method might have been, you’ve now discovered us! Please remember, job specs only say so much though and we would always encourage you to find out more, in the stages below.
Exploratory video call with our People & Talent team
We will schedule a video call with you to learn more about (10-30 minutes); your past experiences & skill set, what you’re looking for, what we’re looking for and we can answer any initial questions you may have as well as discussing things like salary and your notice period.
Technical Video Interview
In this interview, you’ll spend ~45 minutes on a video call with 1 or 2 engineers in the same or similar role to you. We’ll discuss in more depth your experience and skill set and no doubt exchange similar stories and challenges you’ve faced in your work before. You’ll have the chance to learn more about the job and us. This stage is a conversation and should be really enjoyable. You won’t be asked to write any code but you should be prepared to discuss technical topics. The point of this interview is to work out if you are suitable for the company and role and then are we interviewing you for the right position (perhaps you’re better suited to another role) and also for us to work out what we should assess further in the next stage.
Live Technical Challenge
In this second Technical Video Interview, Frontend / Backend / Architects will carry out a live technical task. We tailor this challenge to your skill set and the role you’re best suited for, so if you are a Frontend or Backend Engineer it will be an online pair programming challenge and if you’re an Architect we will ask you to prepare a solution for a Solution Design topic. This will be a challenge/task that you would expect to be doing as part of your job. If you are a Platform Engineer it will be a technical deep dive interview without a live challenge.
Meet the Founders
We feel that as an early stage startup, it’s really important that you meet at least 1 of the 3 founders as they are very much hands on leaders in the company and you’ll more than likely work with them. This will be a conversational interview where they can get to know you and you can ask some questions perhaps related to the business as a whole.
Offer
If after reviewing all the feedback and we think you’d make a great addition to Ikigai Digital, then the People & Talent team will look to make you an offer! Your point of contact will have been in discussions with you throughout the process, so by this stage the talks should be relatively simple and not come as a shock. The offer would be discussed over a call/video call and then an offer letter would be sent to you afterwards.
